Dr. Thad James, Jr. (PhD, Trinity Theological Seminary) is the Director of the BTS Prison Initiative at Bibb County Correctional Facility, and president of the board of JUMSTART AL. He has served as Vice President at Birmingham Theological Seminary since 2003.

Hope Ain't a Hustle

In this talk entitled “The Significance of 1789: The Bittersweet Legacies of Uncle Tom and Uncle Sam, Sweetly Reconciled in Christ,” part of the Edmiston Center’s Grimké Lecture Series at RTS Atlanta -- Joseph Matsiko examines the lasting impacts of early American art, culture and (mis)education on contemporary discussions of U.S. history. Joseph Matsiko is an MDiv student at Reformed Theological Seminary, Atlanta. He moved to the U.S in August of 2022, after completing a B.A in Biblical Studies from African Bible University in Uganda, East Africa. He is interested in International Relations and Diplomacy, and believes God has called him to disciple people from diverse cultures, to foster love, understanding, and mutual development, all to the glory of God.
