Epiphany 2017

Epiphany & Jesus' Baptism

January 8, 2017 • Rev. Adam Feichtmann

Happy Epiphany! In Advent we waited. In Christmas we celebrated. Today is now Epiphany, the day and season we remember the revelation of Jesus our Savior, as the light of the world. For Epiphany, as the singular day, some of you might enjoy King’s Cake for dessert as you read and remember the story from the Gospel of Matthew chapter 2 when the Magi (Three Kings) followed the bright star to bring gifts to Jesus. For Epiphany, as the season that transitions the church from Christmas to Lent, we focus on the life and ministry of Jesus. We remind ourselves that Jesus is not an ordinary teacher, but rather the Christ, and the Christ who calls us to follow him in the world. For this Sunday, we will look at how Jesus begins ministry with his own baptism. To best prepare for the sermon, take 10 minutes and read Mark 1:4-11. Reflect on how Jesus’ identity is revealed and then how that affects your own identity. I look forward to worshiping together with you all on Sunday! Pastor Adam
