Epiphany 2018

A Missionary People, An Epiphany People

January 7, 2018 • Rev. Adam Feichtmann

Epiphany is the day, followed by a season, in which Western and Eastern churches have historically celebrated the manifestation of Jesus Christ to the nations as represented by the Magi (Matthew 2:1-12), who paid homage to a young Jesus. Along with the visit of the Magi (aka wise men or three kings) Epiphany is a time to focus on the life and ministry of Jesus. Passages on Jesus’ baptism and his first public miracle of turning water into wine are also remembered at this time in the church calendar as they emphasize Jesus’ identity and mission. This Sunday we will be seeing how Jesus reveals himself in an epiphany moment during his first public miracle of turning water into wine from the Gospel of John 2:1-11. Take a few minutes to read, meditate, and prayer through this passage and reflect on how Jesus might be leading you to follow him on his mission to proclaim the good news of his coming. I look forward to worshiping with you all this Sunday! Pastor Adam
