Listening

Listening & Prayer

October 15, 2017 • Rev. Adam Feichtmann

Prayer begins by listening to God speak to us. Like children learn to speak from their parents speaking to them first, so Christians learn to pray by God speaking to them. This Sunday we will listen to God speak to us through the passages of Psalm 29, Hebrews 4, and John 1. Prior to Sunday morning, take a few minutes and read aloud these chapters. Listen to God speak to you and reflect on the responses or prayers that the words generate in you. I look forward to listening to God speak to us together on Sunday! Pastor Adam

Learning to Listen & Love

October 8, 2017 • Rev. Adam Feichtmann

Have you ever thought about the difference between hearing and listening? Attention. Auditory neuroscientists will say that paying attention to sounds is the difference between the sense of hearing and the skill of listening. The skill of listening is key for any type of relationship: spouse to spouse, parent to child, friend to friend, employer to employee. It is also foundational for Christians to obey what is spoken in the Bible, the WORD of God. This Sunday we will listen to God speak to us in the Gospel of John 14:21-24 and will explore the connection between listening, obedience, and love. Prior to Sunday morning, take 5 minutes and read John 14:21-24 out loud or listen to someone else read it. Listen well and try to pay attention to Jesus’ words to understand what he is really saying. I look forward to listening to God speak to us together on Sunday! Pastor Adam
