This was the last utterance of the Savior from the cross before His death. While He hung upon the cross, seven times His lips parted with words that pierce our soul to the core. Three of His utterances concerned men, three of His utterance concerned the Father and in the hearing of the Father, men, angels and the devil the Savior cried, "It is finish."

Man had done his worst. The One by whom the world was made had come into it, but the world knew him not. The Lord of glory tabernacle among men, but he was not wanted. The eyes they had been blinded saw in Him no beauty that He should be desired. Add his birth there was no room in the inn, which foreshadow the treatment He was to receive at the end of His earthly ministry.
