What sorrow it must have caused Mary to see her child being crucified. Who can measure those hours of suffering and sorrow as the sword it was slowly drawn through Mary's soul. Hers was no hysterical or demonstrated sorrow. There was no show of feminine weakness, no while outcry of uncontrollable anguish, no fainting. Mary stood at the cross.

Man had done his worst. The One by whom the world was made had come into it, but the world knew him not. The Lord of glory tabernacle among men, but he was not wanted. The eyes they had been blinded saw in Him no beauty that He should be desired. Add his birth there was no room in the inn, which foreshadow the treatment He was to receive at the end of His earthly ministry.
