Practical Theology is a method of reflection that seeks to connect timeless Christian truths with everyday life. Orthodoxy is intended to lead to orthopraxy. Faithful Christian theology is reflected in faithful Christian activity.
“The study of theology, to the extent that it is true theology, is not sufficient, unless…it is earnestly devoted to practical theology and to practice.” Petrus Van Mastricht
Unfortunately, some believers today live with a disconnect between the doctrines they hold to (or at least consent to) and the decisions they make about issues in their lives.
Practical Theology aims to train Christians to bring timeless theological truths to bear on our everyday cultural issues. We don’t provide cultural responses to cultural issues. Instead, we require timeless truth from God’s word to navigate and inform us in the ever-change tides of our culture.
