Welcome to Hope City Church! NEW If you are new to Hope City text “Welcome” to 502-754-3212 SERMON GUIDE Limits Part 3: I’m Limited Big Idea: You don't need more time, money, or advice, you need the courage to set boundaries. Proverbs 4:23-27 Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil. Matthew 6:31-33 So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. I can’t help everyone I can’t be everywhere I can’t have everything Discussion Questions: 1.Talk about some boundaries in your life that you have benefited from. 2. Of the 3 areas, where do you have trouble saying no? (helping everyone, being everywhere, having everything). 3. What’s something important you’ve dreamed about saying “yes” to, but you have told yourself “later, when I have more time or money”? 4. Specifically, what are you saying “yes” to that you really need to say “no” to? How can your group be praying for you? CONNECT Connect with us! Limiting Beliefs

Welcome to Hope City Church! NEW If you are new to Hope City text “Welcome” to 502-754-3212 SERMON GUIDE Limits Part 2: Limiting Beliefs Big Idea: I am not but I know I Am. Limiting Beliefs are deeply held beliefs or assumptions you have about yourself and about the world, without evidence that prevent growth. Numbers 13:30-33 'But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them, we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!”' Exodus 3:14 'God replied to Moses, “ I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you.” ' Discussion Questions: 1. What was your favorite part of Friends and Family weekend? 2. What normally follows your third word? “I am not …. (what)” 3. When describing yourself, what do you say? What is a limiting belief or life rule that you have imposed on yourself? 4. Where in your life do you need to start believing that God is limitless? How can your group be praying for you this week? CONNECT Connect with us! God's Limits

May 16, 2021 • Lead Pastor Jason Isaacs

Welcome to Hope City Church! NEW If you are new to Hope City text “Welcome” to 502-754-3212 SERMON GUIDE Limits Part 1: God’s Limits Big Idea: You’ll never really embrace God’s limits until you receive God’s love. Matthew 4:1-11 1Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. 2For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry. 3During that time the devil came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city, Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, 6 and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect you. And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.’” 7Jesus responded, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God.’” 8Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9“I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.” 10“Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” 11 Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus. Matthew 3:16-17 16 After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.” What are God’s limits? Why does God give us limits? How can we embrace God’s limits? Discussion Questions: 1.Share some stories about your parents’ limits when you were growing up. 2. Talk about an area in your life where you are wanting. 3. What is a God limit that you obeyed and found freedom and peace? 4. Do you find God’s limits burdensome and restrictive? Do you feel like God is keeping something from you? How can your group be praying for you? CONNECT Connect with us!
