Who is king of your life? Is it Jesus or something or someone else? Is it hard to serve an unseen king? The Israelites struggled with having an unseen king too. In 1 Samuel 8, the Israelites asked to be like everyone else and have a visible king. We see how God felt about it in Hosea 13. Today we sing about a king & worship Jesus as king but what does that mean? We will explore what it means to be servants of King Jesus.

11/15 God Loves You No Matter What

November 15, 2020 • Jason Swick

Can you fathom how much God loves you? You know God loves you when you are good but what about when you sin, are selfish, and walk away from Him? This is the situation the Israelites are facing in Hosea 11. God called them out of Egypt & into a special relationship. Unfortunately, they consistently walked away from God. Then God calls Jesus out of Egypt to be the perfect Son. The example of what a trusting & loving relationship is with the Father. If you, or someone you know, are far from God listen to this message & be encouraged that God loves you no matter what. You are never too far gone to turn back to the loving Father.

How do you respond when someone sounds an alarm? What makes it an emergency? Hosea is used by God as a watchman who sounds the alarm of their selfishness and sinfulness that is leading them to destruction as a nation and separation from God. Together we reflect on our own attitudes towards the watchmen and watchwomen in our lives.

11/1 Will You Vote for Jesus

November 1, 2020 • Jason Swick

The great vote of 2020 is here, who will you vote for? Would you vote for Jesus if he was on the ticket? We explore how some people in the Bible chose God and some chose self or material things. Hosea 9 and 10 show how choosing anything other than God leads to great losses, sorrow, shame, and suffering. But there is hope. Hosea 10:12 offers hope when we 'vote' by choosing to trust God and sow righteousness in our life. I hope you are encouraged to vote for Jesus every day and experience the amazing relationship that comes with that life choice.

10/11 Hosea and Idol Worship

October 11, 2020 • Jason Swick

God loves you but often we run away from God. Israel ran away to idols. Today many don't think we have a problem with idols but what if idols were anything that replaces your faith or trust in God? What if idols were anything you think you need other than God or to supplement God in your life? What if idols were anything you fear more than you fear God or anything you are afraid to live without? Maybe we need to reevaluate our views of idols and uncover the idols in our own lives so that we will be able to return steadfast love to a God who offers hesed.

9/27 Hosea and the Knowledge of God

September 27, 2020 • Jason Swick

We just experienced a crazy week in a crazier year. 2020 is definitely weird and not good. Even though we are living in a great country there are cracks showing how there are bad things under the surface. The same was true for Israel during the time of Hosea. They were experiencing a golden age but there were bad things under the surface. God presents these things and concludes that the core problem is a lack of knowledge of God. This sermon explores how we face a similar problem today and challenges us to know God more.

9/20 Hosea the Broken Hearted Prophet

September 20, 2020 • Jason Swick

God knows what it is like to be broken hearted. He experiences a broken heart every time we sin. He experienced a broken heart when Israel chased after idols and shared that with Hosea as Hosea goes through a marriage filled with affairs and an unfaithful wife. Yet both Hosea and God forgive out of their love. If you are broken hearted, go to God the great healer and lover who knows your situation and will walk with you through it.
