7/26 When My Ducks are in a Row

July 26, 2020 • Jason Swick

Have you heard the phrase 'get your ducks in a row'? It's the idea that you need to get things lined up, organized, and prepared before jumping into a certain task or adventure. Sometimes you need to line up your ducks first. Other times you need to jump in before lining up your ducks. Today we look at David's life and how the quest for lining up our ducks begins when we line ourselves up with the 'mother duck' first. David does this in his prayer in 2 Samuel 7:18-29. When Jesus is the lead duck of your life, the other ducks will line up behind you.

July 19, 2020 • John Riley

Our deacon, John Riley, shares this week how Jesus embodies the "I AM" statements in the book of John and the impact this has on our lives. Special treat Moriah and Joslin lead kid's time.

7/12 Faith in God - Learning from the Disciples

July 12, 2020 • Jason Swick

There are three primary ways we approach faith in God. One is based on circumstances. If you feel blessed then God exists but if times are rough then God doesn't exist. Another is experiential and is based on having good feelings or experiences that 'prove' God to yourself. A third way is covenantal, which is a faith based on evidence and experience that stays even during the desert times of life. Today we look at how the disciples needed an experience and evidence to solidify a covenantal faith in Jesus. With a covenantal faith in place, Jesus offers an instruction, a commission, and a promise for the disciples moving forward. The instruction for us is to know the Bible and how Jesus fulfills it, brings forgiveness of sins, and new life with God and others. The commission is to be on mission, proclaiming the good news. The promise is the gift of the Holy Spirit to join us on mission. Do you have a covenant faith with your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? If so, where is the Holy Spirit leading you on mission?

7/5 Independence Day Jesus' Way

July 5, 2020 • Jason Swick

Happy Independence Day. A Day to celebrate our freedom in America to do what we want...6 feet apart & with proper social distancing & hand washing. Freedom is part of our DNA as Americans and even espoused as a right. Today we look at how Jesus used his freedom. How Jesus used his John 1:1-5 self to become v14 and the implications for our lives. I want us to choose the way of Jesus and as Paul states in Romans 6 to become instruments of righteousness. To use our American freedom to choose Jesus' way of sacrifice, selflessness, and love to serve, give, and love everyone like he loves them. Be encouraged that Jesus' loves you, Jesus died for you, and out of that be empowered to freely love as we remember our Independence Day.

6/28 Jesus Let Us Come to Know You

June 28, 2020 • Jason Swick

Jesus is alive! Today we look at how Luke 24 & Acts 26 give us clues that Jesus lived, died on a cross, rose from the dead, and appeared to many people. We will also see what Cleopas and his friend were looking for in a redeemer and how often we look for a redeemer in all the wrong places too. We will see how Jesus reveals himself and how we can find the redeemer today as well and be redeemed from our spiritual blindness.

6/21 Hopeless Death and Joy-Filled Resurrection

June 21, 2020 • Jason Swick

When Jesus died hope was lost for his followers. They were depressed and left without purpose, vision, and reason to go on. You might say nothing mattered. This is also the end result of evolution and atheism. With random chance at the beginning and no purpose for the individual life there is a sense of depression and lostness. Nothing really matters. The followers of Jesus were in this same place when Jesus died and Joseph placed his body in a tomb. The women came on Sunday to anoint the body and were greeted with two men who asked, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? Jesus is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” Everything changes at this moment. Jesus turns hopeless death into joy-filled resurrection. We have a purpose now and the blessings continue through eternity.

6/14 Rest for the Weary

June 14, 2020 • Jason Swick

Many of us are feeling weary, anxious, angry, and a host of other negative emotions during this time. They seem to be sapping away our joy in the Lord. Today we explore intentionally releasing somethings to rest in creation as Psalm 8 encourages. Allowing this to move us to revive in prayer and rejuvenate in God's Word. May you be blessed on your journey of faith.

6/7 Victory Over Our Greatest Enemy

June 7, 2020 • James Freie

The evil one's desire is to attack and destroy us. When we are attacked, we find ourselves in dark times. David teaches us where to turn in dark times when he wrote Psalm 23. When we find ourselves in dark times, like we are living today with COVID and racism, let us trust in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Let us "put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes" (Ephesians 6:11, TNIV).

5/31 Hope for the Oppressed

May 31, 2020 • Jason Swick

This week we rejoiced in the launch of American astronauts and grieved with the senseless death of George Floyd. Wondering how to respond we see a God who reveals Himself in Exodus 3:7-8 as a God who sees, hears, is concerned, and chooses to use Moses to act on His behalf. Then we see God set laws to encourage looking out for those who are powerless among the Israelites in Exodus 22:21-7 & 23:12. With this foundation of who God is we come to Romans 8:18-28 and how creation groans over sin and injustice and how we can begin to respond in prayer v26 and move to action v28 as God continues to see, hear, be concerned and chooses to use us to act for the oppressed and powerless among us.

5/17 Great Love from a Sovereign God

May 17, 2020 • Jason Swick

God is sovereign. He is the creator of all things. He could destroy us or forget about us. But God chooses to see, hear, be concerned, and act lovingly toward us. God chooses to love us and pursue a relationship with us. This is amazing love and an amazing opportunity we have to know the sovereign God.

2020.5.10 Mothers an Example of Living Sacrifices

May 10, 2020 • Jason Swick

Romans 11:33-6, Paul worships God in a doxology that leads to 12:1-2 and encouraging us in view of God's mercy and who He is to offer our bodies as living sacrifices. Mothers are a great example of this in their relationship with kids. We can also be living sacrifices in all of our relationships by being grateful and listening.
