August 21, 2022 • Jason Swick • Genesis 1:31, Ephesians 2:10, 2 Timothy 3:16–17, 1 Peter 2—3
We know God is good. The goodness of God is all over the Bible. God made creation good. God created us to be good also. We have been equipped to do good. We are blessed when we do good. We are called to do good. We have been prepared to do good. So we should… Yes! If you are struggling with any part of this, either the goodness of God or how you are to live, reach out to us today and know a good God is walking with you and so are we.
8/7 Unplugged
August 7, 2022 • Jason Swick • Matthew 14:23, Romans 12:1–2, John 1:1–14
What does it mean to be 'unplugged' and why is it good? Unplugging from electronics is good but what we 'plug' into might be even more important as Jason looks at the value of the Word and being unplugged from some things so we can be plugged into Jesus.
6/19 Intentional Fathers
June 19, 2022 • Jason Swick • Malachi 4, Deuteronomy 6:4–9
Happy Father's Day. Malachi ends by saying the hearts of fathers will be turned toward their children before the great day of the Lord. Our hope is for our fathers, who are very important in the faith development of their families, to be intentional in passing on the faith of Jesus. To love God and love others instead of being influenced by the individualism, hate and selfishness in our culture.
6/5 What to do with Disappointment
June 5, 2022 • Jason Swick • 2 Corinthians 11:24–29, Acts 20:18–24, Acts 9:1–18
Saul was disappointed, even devastated, when Jesus took away his purpose and eyesight. How did he respond? Not only did he pray and fast, but God knew he needed others, specifically Ananias and later Barnabas to encourage him and walk with him. God knows your struggles and disappointments. Only by seeking the Lord through prayer, fasting, and sharing with others can we know the Lord, and be able to follow the Lord and trust the Lord.
5/29 The God Who Hears Me
May 29, 2022 • Jason Swick • Genesis 16, Genesis 21
Hagar went from beloved servant to wife of Abram. Then fell to abused servant and kicked out. It was a hard life. Yet God saw Hagar’s plight and He listened to her cries of distress. God sees your struggles and hears your cries. God is with you in the struggles of life. Will we be faithful to walk with the one who loves us so much?
5/22 Becoming a Hero of Faith
May 22, 2022 • Jason Swick • Hebrews 11:39–40, Hebrews 12:1–2, Judges 13—16
Samson, Marshall Keeble, and A.M. Burton were all heroes of faith as they lived out God's calling during their lives. Hebrews 12 encourage us to become heroes of faith also as we live out our faith in the time and place that God has led us to that we may live in honor of the greatest hero, Jesus Christ.
