6/26 Planted by Streams of Water

Where you are planted there you will grow. This is the message of Psalm 1. This psalm asks the questions of who are your friends, what hill do you stand on, and whether you are a scoffer or victim. Then we see what it looks like to be planted by streams of living water. We even join together in delighting on this psalm together. I hope you are blessed by this message and that you are planted with the Lord and experience all the blessings this has to offer.

The Psalmist ends Ps 27 with “wait for the Lord.” We are a people who wait for the Lord, but, what does it mean to wait for the Lord? Together, we explore three ways we wait for the Lord and how we seek the Lord and His laws as good and a blessing that revives the soul and makes the heart rejoice.

8/14 Heart Words for a Follower of Jesus

David has made a choice as a leader of Israel. He chooses to follow God over worldly ideas. He chooses to unite with God instead of alliances with others that don’t follow God. Now David goes before the Lord remembering his covenant and heart’s desire and asking God to walk with him. We can use Psalm 26 as a prayer today on our journey of being “Followers of the Way.” David’s words lead us in a remembrance and proclamation that God’s way is the best way and it’s also our heart’s desire.

The story of David and Bathsheba in 2 Samuel 11-12 is the foundation for David's lament in Psalm 51. But these heart words are for us too. Words of confession and asking for mercy and for God to restore and create a clean heart where our brokenness is right in front of our face.
