ENCOUNTER CHRIST We are called to let go of fear and put our lives in Christ’s hands, to believe that his power will carry us through. It can be a scary proposition, but each time we surrender it prepares and strengthens us for our salvation. Faith is not fragile, it is filled with the awesome strength of the Holy Spirit that comes through our trust in Christ. Jesus’ goodness and spirit is in every step we take. He always walks with us on this faith journey which is far better than any journey we can have without him.

ENCOUNTER CHRIST Today we see Jesus challenging the faith of his disciples again. Much like the disciples, we can find ourselves in a boat on stormy seas in our lives. Perhaps we are struggling at work, in school, or in our family life - we can feel the evil one tugging us away from Jesus. When we allow ourselves to be still and let Jesus calm our storms, we can experience the awe that only he can create. Faith is an entirely free gift that God gives to us - allow yourself to relate to him with confidence, trust, and reliance.

ENCONTRANDO A CRISTO Estamos llamados a no tener miedo y poner nuestras vidas en las manos de Cristo, a creer que su poder nos ayudará. Puede ser una propuesta aterradora, pero cada vez que nos rendimos, nos prepara y fortalece para nuestra salvación. La fe no es frágil, está llena de la asombrosa fuerza del Espíritu Santo que proviene de nuestra confianza en Cristo. La bondad y el espíritu de Jesús están en cada paso que damos. Él siempre camina con nosotros en esta jornada de fe, que es mucho mejor que cualquier viaje que podamos tener sin él.

ENCOUNTER CHRIST Today we hear Mark recount the institution of the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper. When we receive the Body and Blood of Jesus, we are united in and become the Body of Christ, the hands and feet of Jesus. Jesus asks us to work together as we receive this sacrifice, to allow others in our lives to experience his love, his mercy, and his forgiveness. Partaking in the Holy Eucharist gives us grace, deepens our relationship with Jesus, and allows us to see him and others around us more clearly in order that all may be united in him.

ENCONTRANDO A CRISTO Hoy vemos a Jesús desafiando la fe de sus discípulos nuevamente. Al igual que los discípulos, podemos encontrarnos en un barco en mares tormentosos en nuestras vidas. Quizás estemos luchando en el trabajo, en la escuela o en nuestra vida familiar; podemos sentir al maligno alejándonos de Jesús. Cuando nos permitimos estar quietos y dejamos que Jesús calme nuestras tormentas, podemos experimentar el asombro que solo Él puede crear. La fe es un regalo totalmente gratuito que Dios nos da; permite relacionarte con Él con seguridad, y confianza.

ENCOUNTER CHRIST As we celebrate the Holy Trinity this weekend, we remember that our trinitarian God is a community of love and persons. The Trinity is a community held together by containing diversity within itself. This mystery of the Holy Trinity, which is a model relationship, urges us to constantly strive for unity, peace, and love within our hearts, families, and communities. We are meant to put this relationship into action in our own lives, and in doing so we come to know the mystery by our own experience of peace, love, and unity.

ENCONTRANDO A CRISTO Cristo pide a sus seguidores que ayuden a guiar a todos a la seguridad de su reino terrenal, para que así disfruten de la felicidad para siempre en su reino celestial. Hacemos esto como familias y comunidades: pasando tiempo juntos en la iglesia, en oración, en el estudio de la fe y con otros, siguiendo el ejemplo de nuestro Salvador. Durante este tiempo juntos, las semillas de la fe crecen fuertes en nosotros y son visibles para los demás. Entonces estamos llamados a sembrar semillas de fe, cuidando estas relaciones para que podamos disfrutar del reino de Dios.

ENCOUNTER CHRIST Christ asks his followers to help bring all into the safety of his earthly kingdom, so they may enjoy happiness forever in his heavenly kingdom. We do this as families and communities - spending time together in church, in prayer, in faith study, and with others following our Savior’s example. During this time together, the seeds of faith grow tall and strong in us and are visible to others. We are then called to sow seeds of faith, tending these relationships in order that we may enjoy God’s kingdom.

ENCONTRANDO A CRISTO Hoy escuchamos a San Marcos hablar sobre la institución de la Sagrada Eucaristía en la Última Cena. Cuando recibimos el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Jesús, estamos unidos y nos convertimos en el Cuerpo de Cristo, las manos y los pies de Jesús. Jesús nos pide que trabajemos juntos al recibir este sacrificio, para permitir que otros en nuestras vidas experimenten Su amor, Su misericordia y Su perdón. Participar de la Sagrada Eucaristía nos da gracia, profundiza nuestra relación con Jesús y nos permite verlo a él y a los que nos rodean con mayor claridad para que todos puedan estar unidos en Él.

ENCOUNTER CHRIST The Holy Spirit is the spirit of life, the breath that moved over the waters at the beginning of creation. It is a spirit that brings new life and peace. The disciples are fearful, because they do not know what the future holds for them. We do not know exactly what our futures will look like. However, the lasting and renewing presence of the Holy Spirit is with us, just as it was with the disciples, whatever we may come to face.

ENCONTRANDO A CRISTO Al celebrar la Santísima Trinidad durante este fin de semana, recordamos que nuestro Dios trinitario es una comunidad de amor y personas. La Trinidad es una comunidad unida por la diversidad contenida en sí misma. El misterio de la Santísima Trinidad, que es una relación modelo, nos urge a que constantemente luchemos por la unidad, la paz, y el amor dentro de nuestros corazones, familias y comunidades. Debemos poner esta relación en acción en nuestras vidas, y al hacerlo conoceremos al misterio por nuestra propia experiencia de paz, amor y unidad.

ENCONTRANDO A CRISTO El Espíritu Santo es el espíritu de vida, el aliento que nos mueve sobre las aguas al principio de la creación. Es un espíritu que trae nueva vida y paz. Los discípulos tenían temor, porque no sabían qué esperar del futuro. Tampoco nosotros sabemos qué nos trae el futuro, pero la presencia eterna y renovadora del Espíritu Santo está con nosotros, tal y cómo lo estaba con los discípulos, para ayudarnos a enfrentar lo que se nos presente.

ENCOUNTER CHRIST When Jesus ascends into heaven, he leaves his disciples with an instruction: to go out into the world and proclaim the good news without discrimination. This instruction is part of the mission of the Church, and forms how we live our faith. The gospel transforms us, and we transform the world. When the disciples went forward and preached, God worked with them and through them. Both our deeds and our words proclaim the gospel to the world Jesus came to redeem.

ENCONTRANDO A CRISTO Cuando Jesús ascendió al cielo, dejó a sus discípulos con una instrucción: Vayan por todo el mundo y proclamen la Buena Nueva sin discriminación. Esta instrucción es parte de la misión de la Iglesia, y da forma a cómo vivimos nuestra fe. El Evangelio nos transforma, y nosotros transformamos el mundo. Cuando los discípulos siguieron adelante y predicaron, Dios trabajó con ellos y a través de ellos. Nuestros actos y palabras proclaman el evangelio al mundo que Jesús vino a redimir.

ENCOUNTER CHRIST God loves us, each and every one of us. In the first reading, Peter came to understand God’s love when he witnessed the gift of the Holy Spirit given to Cornelius and his friends. This is important because they were Gentiles, not Jews. In the early church these gifts were only given to Jews but God shows no exclusivity, his love is open to all. As God's love is revealed to us, we are called to love one another. Jesus loves us so much that he dies on the cross so we can have eternal life with him. He asks us to be generous and to share his love with all mankind.

ENCOUNTER CHRIST Through our relationship with Jesus we receive God’s spirit and his very life. When we remain in this relationship with him, he changes us--the dead, selfish parts of our life get cut away so our hearts can grow--we think less of ourselves and more of others. Our actions show that Christ is changing us when we choose to love one another as Jesus commanded. None of us are too far gone to be loved or to love like Jesus--just as it was for St. Paul. We need Christ to help us grow and love so that we can bear much fruit.

ENCONTRANDO A CRISTO Dios nos ama a cada uno de nosotros. En la primera lectura, Pedro por fin entendió el amor de Dios cuando fue testigo del regalo del Espíritu Santo otorgado a Cornelio y a sus amigos. Esto es importante porque eran Gentiles, no Judíos. En la Iglesia primitiva estos regalos sólo eran otorgados a los Judíos pero Dios no tiene exclusividad. Su amor es para todos. Tal y como el amor de Dios nos es revelado, somos llamados a amarnos los unos a los otros. Jesús nos ama tanto que muere en la Cruz para que tengamos vida eterna con Él. Él nos pide que seamos generosos y compartamos su amor con el mundo.

ENCONTRANDO A CRISTO Por medio de nuestra relación con Jesús recibimos el espíritu de Dios y su misma vida. Cuando permanecemos en esta relación, Él nos cambia- las partes muertas y egoístas de nosotros son cortadas para que nuestros corazones puedan crecer- pensamos menos en nosotros y más en otros. Nuestras acciones muestran que Jesús nos está cambiando cuando elegimos amar al prójimo tal y cómo Él lo ordena. Ninguno de nosotros estamos tan perdidos para no ser amados o amar cómo Jesús, tal y cómo lo fue para San Pablo. Necesitamos que Cristo nos ayude a crecer y a amar para dar mucho fruto.

ENCOUNTER CHRIST Jesus said, "I am the Good Shepherd." Some shepherds work only for pay and leave their sheep unprotected. By contrast, the good shepherd lays down his life to save his sheep. No one forces him to do so. He chooses to give his life for the sheep he knows by name and loves to the end. Though rejected by many Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is the cornerstone to salvation. As the sheep, knowing him is our only path into heaven. “There is no salvation through anyone else.”

ENCONTRANDO A CRISTO Jesús dijo: “ Yo soy el Buen Pastor.” Algunos pastores solo trabajan por la paga y dejan a sus ovejas sin protección. En contraste, el buen pastor pone su vida en riesgo para proteger a sus ovejas. Nadie lo obliga a hacerlo. El elige dar su propia vida por las ovejas que conoce por nombre y ama hasta el final.” Aunque rechazado por muchos Jesús, el Buen Pastor es la piedra angular de la salvación. Como las ovejas, conocer a Cristo es nuestro único camino al cielo. "No hay salvación mediante nadie más."
