Study Text: Hebrews 12:25-28 25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 

We are living in the last days and in revelation to those who are Christians, we know there is a clarion call from God, a warning to prepare for His coming. We are in a space of time that God is going to do a shaking as He promised in the last days. The word of God spoken by His Son are words written on hearts of flesh. Hebrews 1:1-3 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: With the word of the Lord coming to His creation, greater revelation means greater responsibility. Hebrews 2:1-4 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; 4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? We are to hear and to heed what God has spoken through His Son. In the shaking we need to know how serious the consequences are for rejecting God’s word. The kingdom of God will not be shaken for it to endure throughout all eternity. Isaiah 54:7-8 7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. 8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. Isaiah 65:17-18 17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. 18 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.  The voice of the Lord shook the earth referenced in Hebrews 12:26 26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. with a contrast between “then” and “now” is inference between “Mount Sinai” and “Mount Zion” with phenomena that occurred at Sinai was the shaking of the earth just as will happen again if true repentance doesn’t happen on the earth. This shaking is the theme of future “shaking” that will occur in the end times, a theme found in both Old and New Testaments. Isaiah 24:18-20 18 And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake. 19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. 20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. The shaking of the earth includes a political “shakeup” as well as a physical “shakeup” (earthquakes). This “shaking” spells the end of the world as we know it. And at the same time, there is the promise of “new heavens and new earth” that will follow. I am speaking of the final shaking as the termination of many things, as well as the inauguration of the whole entity, Mount Zion and the New Jerusalem. Matthew 24:6-8 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. Revelation 16:17-18 17 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. 18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. The purpose of God’s shaking is striking to the believers with a proclamation of the truth in Haggai 2:6-7 6 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; 7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts.  

So our kingdom, Mount Zion is a greater kingdom, with greater glory, and it is “unshakable” even when we face trials and difficulties. We can pray, “Father let your kingdom come, let your will be done.” In this prayer you are proclaiming an “unshakable” kingdom that will produce unshakable saints. The saints will be a people of unity that will say, “Let us hold on to grace,” or come short of grace, with no one having a bitter root springing up and causing trouble, and through him many become defiled. It is on the basis of this grace that we will be able to worship God in both devotion and awe, serving God acceptably with reverence and Godly fear. Deuteronomy 4:23-24 23 Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the Lord thy God hath forbidden thee. 24 For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

Conclusion:

Those who lived during the days our Lord ministered on the earth kept asking for signs, but these signs did not make believers out of most. Those who believed on God’s promises did so on the basis of God’s word, thus those who believed “saw” the unseen certainties of the eternal blessings. Faith is not based upon sight but gives us sight of the eternal with the end goal           H E A V E N. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
