In part four of “The Journey Of A Disciple” Pastor Jason looks at both perspective and practice. Discipleship encompasses three parts, evangelism, conversion, and maturity. The word disciple means student, no matter at what stage we are, each of us will always be a student of Christ.

We must remember we are all disciples on this journey, and that everyone will not always be on the same phase we are on.

However each of us are called to reach others, we are not called to save them, Christ will accomplish that. We are called to share the Gospel through evangelism. There are three steps to evangelism, to engage, empower, and equip. To do this we must maintain our perspective and our practice through prayer, meditation on His word, our worship, and being still or abiding in His Presence.

In this week’s Authentic Conversations Pastor Jason and Pastor Brittany discuss her message “Possess Your Promised Land.” As followers of Christ strongholds can break today. A stronghold is something that has a grip on you. It’s a lie that is you have believed, which is so entrenched, you will defend it. Israel allowed an evil influence to remain, which went from ensnaring to enslaving. Our land is our lives which God gave us to bless and be a witness for God. He has called us to drive out some things, and to set boundaries. What are gray areas in our lives, or things that are already altars we must tear down? We cannot allow our children to be raised in a home with a negative influence. We can overcome any stronghold, build a deeper relationship closer with God, and become a force to be reckoned with.

Possess Your Promised Land

In this message Pastor Brittany encourages all of us to “Possess Your Promised Land.” Israel’s problem was they did not listen to God’s command. Instead of driving out the influences that He had told them to, they allowed them to remain among them. One generation set no boundaries and this cost Israel their next generation. The idols one generation allowed to remain became the very thing the next one worshipped. All influence will draw you closer to God, depending on the influence will depend whether it’s the upper case God or lowercase god, idol worship. An evil influence not dealt with will become a stronghold. What you give a corner to in your life will hold your children captive.
