In Hebrews chapter 11 we examined the faith of many of the Old Testament heroes; not perfect people, but people of great faith! Chapter 12 begins by encouraging us to run our race of faith with a look at our supreme example, the Lord Jesus Christ. Don't let anything deter you from running with patience and faith the race that God has designed for you!

Ordinary People with an Extraordinary God

In this chapter that rehearses the Hall of Fame of Faith, we see person after person who acted by faith and accomplished great things for God. But not all of their stories had a happy ending, and many died in faith seeing only a shadow of the promise that we present-day believers have experienced in substance. God still received glory from them all!

We would expect to see Joshua in the Hall of Fame of Faith, but Rahab? Seems like such an unlikely candidate, but one nonetheless who acted on what little knowledge she had about God! It's not the amount of our faith, but the object of our faith that is important.

Strong And Simple Faith In Him

Though not listed by name in the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11, Joshua’s strong faith is certainly commended. For it was his faith that brought down the mighty walls of Jericho. The strength of his faith was not found in the amount of faith but in the object of his faith.
