Part of being a good Christian is being a responsible citizen. God ordained human government to help maintain societal order, and He expects His people to pray for, respect and obey the powers that are ordained unless there is a matter of conscience or a contradiction of God’s commands in scripture.

The Apostle Paul began Romans chapter 12 with an exhortation for God’s children to present their bodies a living sacrifice to God and to use the spiritual gifts imparted to them. He now gives instruction about the spirit in which we use those gifts, how we treat and serve those within the body of Christ.

Staying On The Alter

It seems quite easy for us as God’s children to slide off of the altar of sacrifice in our Christian life. Here in Romans 12, Paul gives us two “flesh hooks”, consecration and transformation, that the Holy Spirit uses to keep us sacrificing our bodies as a living sacrifice in the service and worship of God.
