John the Baptist was sent as the messenger, the ambassador to introduce the coming of Messiah, Jesus Christ. Many doubted and wondered if he was claiming to be the Messiah. He simply introduced the “Lamb of God” who would take away the sin of the world, and abolish the Old Testament sacrificial system once and for all.
