Ephesians 5:22-6:9

November 13, 2022 • Mike Arvin • Ephesians 5:22—6:9

Ephesians 5:21 - 6:9

5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Everything following is rooted in verse 21

In chapters 5 & 6 Paul gives examples of how we do this in the context of:

Marriage, Family and Authority

Marriage: Husband and wife submitting, or deferring, to one another

while fully submitting to God

Family: Children learn to obey God by obeying their parents

Authority: You are either OVER someone in authority, or UNDER someone else’s authority.

Ephesians 6: 10-24

November 20, 2022 • Brandon Rose • Ephesians 6:10–24

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”  —Ephesians 6: 10-12

Ephesians 5: 1-20

November 6, 2022 • Brandon Rose • Ephesians 5:1–20

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”  —Ephesians 5: 1-2

Ephesians 4: 17-32

October 30, 2022 • Brandon Rose • Ephesians 4:17–24

“Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.” —Ephesians 4: 17-24
