Sarah

Waiting On The Promise

August 25, 2024 • Pastor Omar Thibeaux • Genesis 16, Genesis 16:1–9

In yesterday’s powerful sermon, Pastor Omar drew from Genesis 16 and the Book of Jasher, focusing on the story of Sarah’s impatience with the promise given to her by God. The message highlighted a common spiritual struggle: the difficulty of waiting on God's timing.

Pastor Omar explained that in our waiting seasons, we might feel tempted to accelerate God's plans on our own, which often leads to sorrow and turmoil. He emphasized that although waiting is challenging—especially when there seems to be no evidence that a promise will materialize—it is a crucial time of preparation. During these periods of apparent barrenness, God is not idle; rather, He is intricately arranging the fulfillment of His promises.

A significant point of the sermon addressed the pain of seeing others receive what we have been praying for, which can test our faith and patience. However, Pastor Omar reassured us that when it seems like the least is being done, God is doing the most. The sudden arrival of God’s blessings, often when least expected, illustrates His perfect timing and faithfulness.

The sermon urged us to maintain our faith and trust in God's process, reminding us that the most significant work occurs beneath the surface and in His perfect timing.
