1 Peter 1:15-16 says, "But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” God not only instructs us to be holy, but enables us by his Spirit and our cooperation.

Created to be Like God

We are instructed to "put on" the new nature, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. This new nature is a gift received when we receive salvation, but it is something that we must be intentional about, "putting off" the old and "putting on" the new.
