Message #30: Tax Collectors & Sinners

Matthew 9:9-13

October 20, 2019 • David Cotner

Today we reenter our mega-series, “Jesus in the Manuscript of Matthew” by diving into a message entitled, “Tax Collectors & Sinners.” In this sermon, we’ll unpack the mercy of Jesus as he encounters some of the most unsavory people in the region of
Galilee. We’ll be challenged to extend such mercy to the tax collectors and sinners in our own lives. Such an act is hard to do but, in the words of Paul David Tripp, “a relationship without mercy is a relationship lived outside of biblical borders.” Buckle your seatbelts and prepare to be challenged from the Word!

Message #87: The Story Continues...

September 19, 2021 • David Cotner III • Matthew 28:16–20

Today we end our 2 ½ year journey through the Gospel of Matthew. It has been an incredible journey as we have feasted our eyes on Jesus, “the founder and perfecter of our faith.” As we enter this final installment, we will delve into the Great Commission text of Scripture. As one commentator notes, this text (Matthew 28:16-20) is an “eminently teachable” section, ripe with relevancy and modern-day applications. So join us, one final time, as we dive into the book of Matthew to see and savor “Jesus In The Manuscript of Matthew”!

Message #86: The Glorious Resurrection!

September 5, 2021 • Matthew 28:1–15

As the old song goes, “Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior. Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord! Up from the grave He arose; with a mighty triumph o'er His foes; He arose a victor from the dark domain, and He lives forever, with His saints to reign. He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!” Yes, indeed! The tomb is empty, and Jesus is alive! And in today’s message from Matthew 28:1-15, we’ll investigate this historical account as relayed to us by the Apostle Matthew.

Message #85: The Crucifixion and Death

August 22, 2021 • Matthew 27:31–66

Today we enter into one of the darkest sections in all of Matthew’s Gospel Account. In Matthew 27:31-66, we witness the crucifixion, death, and burial of our Lord and King, Jesus Christ. The perfectly sinless One dies for the totally sinful ones. Today we’ll unpack the specific (even surprising) details surrounding Christ’s crucifixion. Then we’ll discover the supernatural effects surrounding Christ’s death. And then we’ll stand amazed at the split actions surrounding Christ’s burial. It’s all coming up next as we end Matthew chapter 27!
