Message #56: Hostility, Honesty, and Hard-Heartedness…

Matthew 16:1-12

September 20, 2020 • David Cotner

As we journey through the Gospel of Matthew, we run into a familiar scene in Matthew 16:1-12. Jesus is being confronted (again) by the religious leaders of His day. They ask Him for a sign (some grand miracle) that will once and for all prove to them that Jesus really is who He says He is. In response, Jesus confronts their masked hostility by honestly indicting them for who they really are, namely, “an evil and adulterous generation.” But even Jesus’s disciples are hard-hearted and don’t seem to readily understand Jesus’s words and identity. Join us as we explore this passage and apply it to our own lives of hostility and hard-heartedness.

Message #86: The Glorious Resurrection!

September 5, 2021 • Matthew 28:1–15

As the old song goes, “Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior. Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord! Up from the grave He arose; with a mighty triumph o'er His foes; He arose a victor from the dark domain, and He lives forever, with His saints to reign. He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!” Yes, indeed! The tomb is empty, and Jesus is alive! And in today’s message from Matthew 28:1-15, we’ll investigate this historical account as relayed to us by the Apostle Matthew.

Message #85: The Crucifixion and Death

August 22, 2021 • Matthew 27:31–66

Today we enter into one of the darkest sections in all of Matthew’s Gospel Account. In Matthew 27:31-66, we witness the crucifixion, death, and burial of our Lord and King, Jesus Christ. The perfectly sinless One dies for the totally sinful ones. Today we’ll unpack the specific (even surprising) details surrounding Christ’s crucifixion. Then we’ll discover the supernatural effects surrounding Christ’s death. And then we’ll stand amazed at the split actions surrounding Christ’s burial. It’s all coming up next as we end Matthew chapter 27!
