The characteristics that Jesus shares in Matthew 5:1-12 should be cultivated into our lives. However, we simply cannot do this on our own. We need the continual power of the Gospel to refine us as we walk by faith in this world.
Jesus taught with authority because he is the final authority. Are we acknowledging his authority over us or are we attempting to live independently of him?
