David Hood

Question Sunday

April 29, 2018 • David Alley, John Alley, Philip Alley

How do you know God is speaking to you? Why does Jesus say speak to the mountain in Matthew, but speak to the mulberry tree in Luke? Why does Jesus say that the love of most will grow cold? How can the gospel be victorious when the path to life is narrow, and only a few find it? These questions were covered at our first Q&A session at Peace Christian Church.

Lest We Forget

April 15, 2018

Certain things trigger our memories. Even the title of this message has most likely triggered us to remember ANZAC Day. This sermon is not about that, but about remembering what God has told us. David Hood takes us on a journey showing things Christ said to his disciples which they forgot, but strangely the Pharisees remembered but did not believe. After all of this we are asked to consider, what has Christ said to us, that we have forgotten and not put into practice?

Love Not The World #4 - What is the World to You?

March 11, 2018

The present age that Demas loved is different to the present age that we are living in, and what tempted Demas away from God's will may not be the same thing that tempts people today. The question is then, what is the thing that tempts you away from the love of God? That thing is the the "world" to you. In this message David Hood continues delving into what it means to not love this world, by showing that the world may not be the same for each person, and encourages you to consider what is the world to you and surrender that love to God.

Spiritual Warfare 101

September 24, 2017 • David Alley

The basics of spiritual warfare are being aware that we have an enemy, and knowing how to pray and resist. It is less scary than we think, and yet we must be aware of His schemes. As Eve was deceived with what seemed plausible, so spiritual warfare is waged against God's people in ways that fit in our understanding. Jesus Christ when tempted resisted Satan because He knew the scripture. This sermon takes us to the starting place of spiritual warfare, which is prayer, scripture, and not looking at people as the problem.

Just Believe

July 19, 2009

JUST BELIEVE THE QUESTION – HOW? Beginning with Romans 10:9-10, David Hood takes the listener on a journey through the Scriptures with regard to the question of how to grow and maintain faith in God. Incorporating many definitions from Scripture of words such as ‘confess’, ‘believe’, ‘heart’ and many more, David gives practical and honest answers to many of the questions asked by many in this regard. David then goes on to discuss hindrances to answered prayer, including doubt, lack of action, sin and attitudes of the heart. This thought-provoking message will challenge and refresh the listener. Obey Everything I Commanded You

August 2, 2009

Beginning with the instruction of James that we are meant to obey the word of God and not merely sit and listen, David Hood takes the listener on a tour of the Scriptures in regard to love and obedience. David points out that our first instruction is to repent and be baptized. David then goes on to link our love for Christ with obedience to Him, along with the fact that He has commanded us to love one another. Obedience, says David, is positioning for blessing – and we all would like the blessing of god on our lives and families. This message is rich with insights that will encourage the listener on to a closer walk of obedience with Christ. Sunday, 2nd August, 2009

Overcoming by Grace

June 28, 2009

In this message, David Hood shares thoughts on the issue of personal authority, which must be established in the life of an individual before it can be exercised in the family or the church. Beginning with some examples from the Bible of people who failed badly and then overcame to finish well for God, as well as some who began well and then fell into godless ways, David then brings forth many verses of Scripture to illustrate the fact that we all have ungodly beliefs that need to be challenged and overcome. This message is one which will bring hope to the listener, along with encouragement to seek the grace of God in every aspect of our lives. Sunday, 28th June, 2009

Easter Sunday

April 12, 2009

On this Easter Sunday, David Hood reflects on the deep unity between Father God and Jesus which resulted in Jesus giving His life in order to be the Saviour of the world. Out of this unity, or agreement, flows great power, which in turn enables those who are willing to choose to walk in the ways of Christ and also to walk with other believers in this way. The Security of Sonship

September 2, 2007

Everybody has a need for security, and we try various ways to meet that need. In this message, David Hood takes the account of the baptism of Jesus and the words of God to illustrate our need to each hear the Father say of us, “This is my son….”. This is the genuine security that can only come from sonship- knowing that we are indeed children of God, and therefore secure in the vital knowledge of who we are- our identity! 02/09/07

A Call to Righteousness

October 28, 2007

What is righteousness? The word is little understood by many Christians, and most find the concept of righteousness hard to define. In this message, David Hood firstly explores the meaning of righteousness, and then goes on to illustrate from scripture that righteousness is from God, and that it is only by being set apart for God and wholly submitted to Him that we can receive this righteousness. 28/10/2007

Onwards and Upwards

October 21, 2007

As Christians, we have all fallen short and there are things in our past which we regret. Using the life of the apostle Paul as an example, David Hood exhorts the listener to forget that which is behind and strain towards the attainment of that for which Christ took hold of us. The need to live a holy life and to be moving onwards in our walk with God is emphasized in this message.

Holy Boldness

December 2, 2007

In 2 Timothy 1: 6-10, the apostle Paul exhorts the younger Timothy to “..fan into flame the gift of God which is in you..”. How do we fan into flame out own gifting? In this message, David Hood takes the listener on a guided tour of Scripture as he explains the truths of the Word relating the Spirit which God has given us and the way in which we can develop a true holy boldness in our lives which is not brash or arrogant but rather true to the nature of our Lord. 02/12/2007
