"At the Movies" - The Family Man

December 4, 2022 • Brian C. Hughes • Genesis 1:26–27, 2 Chronicles 20:12, Psalm 28:7, Isaiah 40:31

We all come from some kind of family. And it’s not just a social construct or a result of instinctual biology. Instead, these intimate relationships have their origin in God, himself. Why does that matter to you and me? Because God knows something about family…He invented it. When we live our best lives within our families, we are not displaying sociological evolutionary forces—we are highlighting a timeless, God-designed spiritual truth around family. Find out what that is through this creative, movie-interpretation, demonstrating this truth and its application for your life.

Steady Love

November 27, 2022 • Angie Frame • 1 Corinthians 13:7–8, Genesis 2:24, John 15:12–13, James 1:19, Psalm 100:5

Do you prefer things that are shaky or steady?  Most of us would say steady. From our Christmas trees to a ladder we climb on, shaky is definitely NOT the preferred option. The same goes for marriages. We’re all impacted by marriage—our parents’ marriage—or lack thereof. Our own marriages, our kids’ marriages, our wannabe dream of a marriage some day or our skeptical unease of a marriage one day. When they’re shaky, everything gets shaky, and ripples ensue, causing bumps and jolts at work, school, home—everywhere. So, in this message from the Family Matters series, Pastor Angie Frame looks at how to refrain from “shaky” and build into something steady.

Healing from Divorce

November 27, 2022 • Brian C. Hughes • Psalm 139:23–24, Matthew 18:15, Matthew 6:14, Mark 10:3–9

Who, these days, is not affected in some way by divorce? Who doesn't have divorced parents or divorced friends or divorced kids? The truth is, in spite of the way we might like it to be, people are more likely to be affected by divorce than influenced by a really great, functional, life-giving marriage. Divorce is a reality that is part of our lives. And God cares about the reality of our lives. So in this episode of Family Matters, we’re going to talk about that reality—about divorce.
