Ever feel like your situation is so hopeless that the only thing you can possibly do is leave? Just walk away, head out the door and never come back? In extreme circumstances, people can feel so much emotional pain that they take their own lives. Perhaps you’ve even considered that yourself. But the real reason people commit suicide isn’t the pain. It’s the loss of hope.

When it comes to the idea of loneliness, I can think of no where that better fits the description than one place. Journey with me this week as we look at the prophet Jeremiah. God called the prophet Jeremiah to live a very lonely life, and his loneliness came as a result of his commitment and obedience to God.

Loneliness is an epidemic. Recent studies show that more than 50% of people say they struggle with loneliness at any one time. Looking at those studies and having honest conversations with people, it seems that all of us deal with loneliness at one time or another. The fact is that loneliness not only affects us spiritually but physically as well. So what do we do about it?
