This time of year, our thoughts turn to Jesus as the baby born in Bethlehem, but the first two Sundays of Advent are about preparing for the triumphal return of Jesus, the second coming. Now, if we are preparing for a baby, you get a crib, a car seat, plenty of onesies, and more than a few packages of diapers. You prepare a nursery. There is actually quite a bit to get done, but we generally know what we need. If we are only expecting Jesus as a baby, we don’t have to do much more than that. But we are preparing for the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords. How do we prepare for him?
