What does gardening have to do with John the baptizer? it will take a minute, but you’ll see… Today our readings tell us about someone, a messenger, sent to prepare the way of the Lord. St. Luke, in his gospel, quotes the prophet Isaiah, “The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.” So what does that have to do with us today? Jesus has already come. We will be celebrating His birthday in 20 days. John’s message for the people then is just as fitting for you and me today.
