TRADITIONAL WORSHIP

WHISPERS AND WHIRLWINDS OF THE SPIRIT

June 5, 2022 • ANDREW THOMPSON • John 14:25–27, John 14:8–17

Whenever we read scripture passages about God’s mighty acts, like the Spirit coming to that
Upper Room on what we today consider to be the Church’s birthday, Pentecost Sunday, we can sometimes wonder where are these bold moves happening today! I mean, I can imagine that our evangelism team and many church leaders across the country would welcome the Holy Spirit moving into the picture like a “violent rushing wind” and with “divided tongues like fire” resting on each of the disciples, allowing us to really be full of the Holy Spirit and able to speak all sorts of languages as the Spirit saw fit. And who could blame them!
