The year is flying by. August brought the kids back to school; we just breezed through September, now it’s October, pretty soon it will be Halloween, then next month is Thanksgiving, then Advent and Christmas. It’s so easy for Thanksgiving to get lost as it becomes the starting gun for Christmas shopping and a month of Christmas movies.
Perhaps this year, rather than have it be a quick day, a time for a quick family gathering, a run-up toward Christmas, we can have an entire season of thankfulness. It sounds good, but it is harder than you might think. Sometimes it’s hard to be thankful, especially when we think we deserve everything we have.
