Nobody likes surprise inspections. They are designed to come at the most inconvenient time, and to show our weaknesses. However, they are also designed to help us improve, and the Lord will periodically present us with surprise inspections of our own. This study in the life of the 1st century church of Sardis shows us how to be ready for surprise inspections and how to rebuild if we are found wanting.
