SERVICE NOTE: We have the opportunity to participate in communion together after today’s message. Make sure you have bread and juice (or similar elements) ready to partake together. For more information on communion at home, visit: https://openlife.church/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Communion-in-a-Community-Group.pdf?

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
What does it mean to live mercifully?
How can we find ways to put grace into action through mercy?

In the series BLESSED ARE YOU, we are walking through the beginning of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. These are instructions for the character of any follower of Jesus, not a list of things for someone to try and do on their own. These are character aspects to become not behaviors to modify. Join us as we walk through the Beatitudes of Jesus.

Blessed Are You | FULL SERVICE

In this series, we want to focus on the beginning of one of the most amazing challenges to the new followers of Jesus ever given. Jesus Sermon on the Mount began with a list of blanket encouragements on how to live a blessed life. They are instructions for the character of the Christian and not a list of things for someone to do to get better at living apart from Jesus. (They are characters to become as a follower of Jesus vs. behavior modifications.) Our prayer is that you can learn these and begin to recognize them rising up within yourself. And when you recognize http://them...that you would lean in instead of pulling http://away...then you too will experience the fullness of those three words, “BLESSED ARE YOU”.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. What does it mean to be meek? Is it the same as weakness? How can we follow Jesus in the same way that he expressed meekness? These are instructions for the character of any follower of Jesus, not a list of things for someone to try and do on their own. These are character aspects to become not behaviors to modify.
