Go Fish

Sharing Your Faith

Muddy Water

Becoming a Christian isn’t about praying a prayer, attending church, or being committed to God. The message of Christ is simple: God loved us enough to give His son, Jesus, to die for us. All He asks of us is that we place our trust in Him and He will give us eternal life.

Fishing Buddies

We believe that everyone has the responsibility to invest in someone’s life who does not attend church and to invite them. Invest and Invite. Inviting them to oneChurch. Inviting them to hear your story, because all of us has a story.

Fish Guts

Sometimes our fears keep us from sharing the message of Christ with those who have never heard. We must remember that God is in control, and we have been invited to participate in what He is up to. If we are to be fishers of men, we must ask God to enable us to have the courage to say something when an opportunity to share His love is given to us.

Why Fish?

Why bother to try and convince people to accept Christ? Salvation is found in no one else but Jesus. As followers of Christ, we have to fish, because the message of salvation is not intuitive; It must be shared. In our culture, the idea of a Christian sharing his faith with a non-Christian makes a lot of people uncomfortable. Many non-Christians dread the thought of being assaulted and proselytized by zealous “born agains.” And many Christians fear being rejected, ridiculed, or humiliated for trying to push their beliefs on someone else. Both parties find it much easier just to keep to themselves on matters of faith and avoid conflict altogether. But the Bible is clear that followers are to become fishers. And fishing means being strategic with our opportunities to tell others about Jesus.

We Were All Fish Once

August 5, 2018 • Chris Edmondson • Mark 1:14–20, Luke 5:4–10

When Jesus called His first followers, He had very clear intentions: “I will make you fishers of men.” He didn’t mention making them better people or even saving them from their sins—although He did those things, too. But of all the things He could have emphasized, Jesus announced that His primary agenda for those who follow Him is to use them to introduce others to their loving heavenly Father. It was true in Jesus’ time. And it’s still true today. BIG IDEA: It’s not enough to follow. To follow is to fish.
