The Problem of Hypocrisy

February 24, 2019 • Dr. Carlo Serrano • John 20:19–24, John 8:1–11, 2 Corinthians 4:7

From the Christian down the road who never practices what he preaches, to witch hunts, to the crusades, what is the deal with Christians who look nothing like Jesus? You told us that the hypocrisy of Christians is one of the top problems you have with God. So let’s go there.

Is the Bible Reliable?

March 3, 2019 • Chris Edmondson • 2 Timothy 3:16–17, Hebrews 4:12, 1 Corinthians 15:3–6, 2 Peter 1:16–21

We have all been to High School or college where teachers and professors have dismantled our faith and discounted the Bible. They were smarter than you, had more degrees than you, so you just left God and the church. Now when someone brings up the Bible? Or says, “You should read it!” You just ignore what they say, because you remember some claims that a professor made years ago that you never investigated. You think, “It’s full of errors. It’s full of contradictions. I haven’t read it. But Hey—that’s what people say.” But have you read the Bible for yourself? Don’t just take someone else’s word on the subject. Since the Bible plays a crucial role in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, the question “Is the Bible reliable?” is one we need to be willing to ask and prepared to answer. Because what you do with God, Jesus, and the Bible is too important just to listen to hearsay. Dig into it for yourself. Because your eternity may hang in the balance.

The Problem of Evil & Suffering

February 17, 2019 • Dr. Carlo Serrano • Isaiah 53:4–9, Romans 3:23–26, 1 Peter 5:10

Here’s the question millions of people have asked: if God is good and if God is all-powerful, why is there suffering? Every world religion and world view (including atheism and agnosticism) has to answer that question. Christianity has an unbelievably different kind of answer that almost everyone misses.

The Problem of God and Science

February 10, 2019 • Dr. Carlo Serrano • Genesis 1

So many people believe there’s an irreconcilable tension between science and Christianity. If you become a Christian, you can’t embrace science. If you embrace science, you can’t have faith. What if faith and reason aren’t enemies, but friends?

The Problem of God's Existence

February 3, 2019 • Dr. Carlo Serrano • John 1:1–5, Romans 1:19–21

So maybe you think that to believe in God requires a giant leap of faith. And maybe you think that essentially, there’s zero evidence for God’s existence apart from the Bible. Is that true? Is there any evidence for God outside of scripture or blind belief? We’ll explore those questions in part one of The Problem of God.
