Cleaning the Unclean

Straight from the Heart, Part 2

March 12, 2023 • Dr. Carlo Serrano • Matthew 8:1–4, Matthew 5:1–11

Have you ever done something that left you feeling gross, infected, or unclean? Maybe you’re the reason you’ve kept your distance from God is that you feel unclean and disgusting. Or worse, maybe God's people have made you feel like you could never be clean enough? Every person wants to live a life full of blessings. We want to experience satisfaction, live a life of purpose, and enjoy all of God’s promises. So, how do we get there...if our lives are a mess? What do we do? Jesus answers the question.

The Big Idea: Only Jesus makes the unclean clean.

Numbered Days

March 26, 2023 • Dr. Carlo Serrano • Psalm 90

Imagine what it would be like to feel completely powerless. Nowhere is the sense of powerlessness more evident than when it comes to the concept of time. Time is deceitful. Someone once said, "we tend to overestimate what we can do in a day and underestimate what we can do in a lifetime.” The thing about time is that we all get the same 24 hours a day, yet none of us are promised the next 24 seconds. What do we do with today? THE BIG IDEA: Big Idea: Don’t just count the days; make the days count.

Horror Stories

March 19, 2023 • Dave Thompson • Colossians 4:5–6, Mark 5:1–20, Mark 6:34

The world needs Jesus, there is no doubt about that! At the same time His plan to spread the great news about Himself was for people who believed in Him to be His witness (Acts 1:8) The problem is that poles show that Christians of all ages are too afraid to shared about their faith. Fear of not having all of the answers, fear of having doubts themselves... the list can go on and on. What if it was never about having the right answers but instead we focused on sharing our stories? THE BIG IDEA: Your story has more power than any rational argument.

Timeless

March 5, 2023 • Dave Thompson • Colossians 3:7–14

Fashion trends come and go, they are ever changing, but some things are timeless. Chuck Taylors, a good blue jean jacket... However, most fashion trends die and for good reason! Think back to some of the fashion trends when you were younger, if you are anything like me those memories likely make you cringe. This leaves me with the question “what is timeless for Christians?” What can we embrace that we know will always be in style? Paul gives us clear instructions on what to wear in his letter to the Colossians. The Big Idea: We have a clothing issue.
