2022 CHRISTMAS SERIES: PEACE ON EARTH

Welcome to our Christmas Day Service. We hope you enjoy the time of worship, communion and candle lighting as well as other special aspects of the service. Today’s message is a short conclusion to our Christmas Series for 2022. Our theme has been “Peace on Earth”. Few would argue with the fact that our world is desperately wicked, irreparably broken, and falling further into destructive chaos and war. We are desperate for deliverance. In need of salvation. And we long for God’s peace to reign here on this earth. How wonderful to discover that the answer to our world’s need is Jesus! Christmas is God’s miraculous gift of His one and only Son, Jesus, who came to be born of a virgin, to take on flesh, and through His incarnation to restore humanity into a relationship with God through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection three days later. God was very specific about instructing the Angels, Joseph, and Mary that His Son would be given the name Jesus. It is a name that means “salvation”. God was declaring in the gift of His Son that He would be the salvation of the earth, to all who put their trust and faith in Him and would call upon His name for salvation. Have you? I hope so. Today’s message continues our Christmas Series for 2022. Our theme is “Peace on Earth”. Few would argue with the fact that our world is desperately wicked, irreparably broken, and falling further into destructive chaos and war. We are desperate for deliverance. In need of salvation. And we long for God’s peace to reign here on this earth. How wonderful to discover that Christmas is God’s GIFT of peace to those who will receive it and embrace it. God sent His one and only Son Jesus, to be born of a virgin, to take on flesh, and through His incarnation to restore humanity into a relationship with God through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection three days later. Christmas is God’s gift of peace. And this gift results in an overflowing, endless fountain of joy for those who receive it. It offers a new look at life from a heavenly perspective. An outlook that enables Believers to rejoice, in spite of the difficult trials and circumstances they may face, knowing that God is working behind the scenes His glorious plan!

Few would argue with the fact that our world is desperately wicked, irreparably broken, and falling further into destructive chaos and war. We are desperate for deliverance. In need of salvation. And we long for God’s peace to reign here on this earth. How wonderful to discover that Christmas is God’s GIFT of peace to those who will receive it and embrace it. God sent His one and only Son Jesus, to be born of a virgin, to take on flesh, and through His incarnation to restore humanity into a relationship with God through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection three days later. Christmas is God’s gift of peace. A gift that establishes peace with Him through faith in Jesus, but also an ongoing peace that is able to fill our hearts on a daily basis – a state of tranquility, calmness, and soundness. It also makes possible for us to live at peace with those around us in as much as they are willing to live at peace with us. The power of this gift is that, while the world may declare “war” on us as Christ Followers, we can be “at peace” with the world. Their entanglements and strife do not have to become ours. We have been set free to live in a state of spiritual healing, serenity and glorious harmony because of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ! No wonder the angelic messenger heralded this Christmas message that still rings true today: “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

And we long for God’s peace to reign here on this earth. How wonderful to discover that Christmas is God’s answer to all these problems and despair. God sent His one and only Son Jesus, to be born of a virgin, to take on flesh, and through His incarnation redeem humanity through His sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection three days later. Christmas is God’s gift of salvation. An angelic messenger heralded this Christmas message that still rings true today: “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
