Hale-Walker Debate: 1st Affirm & Deny

The Hale-Walker Debate was a one-night debate held on November 12th, 1987 in Union City, TN. The participants were Virgil Hale (1936-2016), the minister of the Bishop Street Church of Christ and Eulane Walker (1927-2013), the minister of the First Street Church of Christ. Both of these congregations are in Union City, TN. The proposition read as follows: "Resolved: It is not Scriptural for a church to render benevolent aid from its treasury to those who are not Christians." Eulane Walker affirmed the proposition, Virgil Hale denied it. Robert R. Taylor, Jr. provided the introductory remarks and read the proposition to begin the debate. This debate was made available to NWFSBS from the library of the late Dean Crutchfield (1932-2018). It was digitally transferred from cassette tape.
