Before Christianity existed, Jews had to follow the sacrificial system God put in place in order to atone for sin. Blood had to be shed to cover man's sin. And, the sacrifice only covered the sins man had already committed - it didn't cover the sins he was yet to commit. But, Jesus changed all that. A new covenant was implemented, and the Tabernacle and sacrificial system was no longer needed.
