Revelation 2:12-17 - Pergamum, Satan's House

Pergamum, Satan's House

November 28, 2021 • Jeff Noble • Revelation 2:12–17, 1 Peter 4:17

The letter to the church of Pergamum encourages those who hold on to the name of Jesus even in the face or persecution. Pergamum is described as a place where Satan has his throne even with its vast wealth of knowledge. This is a sobering reminder that intelligence may lead towards pride and we must be aware of God's ultimate authority and power or Satan may tempt us into intellectual atheism and spiritual anarchy. Jesus's message reminds us that you cannot belong to Christ and sin without conviction and discipline.

The main question to ask yourself at the end of this series is simply: Are you ready?

Revelation 22:1-6

The tree of life and the river of the water of life both are featured, and we invited to be comforted in our future purposeful work and in the loving reign of God for all eternity.
