Throughout Scripture, when the people of God longed for renewal, breakthrough, or direction, they prayed and fasted. Prayer brings us into the presence of God and aligns our hearts with His will, while fasting exposes our dependence on Him and intensifies our hunger for His work among us. We’re not trying to earn something from God, we’re grabbing hold of Him.
For 21 days, we’re setting aside comfort to seek the Lord together, to starve the flesh and feast on the presence of God. Throughout history, moves of God have been preceded by humble men and women who prayed, repented, and cried out for renewal. Our desire is simple: that God would revive His people, awaken our mission, and pour out His Spirit in our church, our community, and the nations.
What We’re Praying For
1. Repentance (Neh. 1:4-7; Joel 2:12-13)
Throughout Scripture, repentance always precedes renewal. Like Nehemiah who wept, fasted, and confessed the sins of his people before God, we are asking the Lord to search our hearts and bring genuine repentance among us. Our prayer is that God would soften us, purify us, and draw us back into wholehearted devotion to Jesus.
2. Renewal & Strengthening of the Church (Neh. 2:17-18; Eph. 4:11-16)
We are praying for God to strengthen and build His church among us, just as Nehemiah prayed for the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls. As we step into a new season with two services, we are asking God to awaken every believer to their calling and role in the body of Christ. That the Spirit would strengthen the people of God, build up His church, and advance His kingdom through NSCF.
3. Hunger for God & Fresh Encounter (Ps. 27:4; Acts 2:1-4; 4:31)
We are asking God to deepen our spiritual hunger and awaken a fresh longing for His presence. Scripture tells us that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled, and we want hearts that crave God more than comfort. Our prayer is for deeper gospel conviction, fresh encounters with the living God, the prophetic ministry of the Spirt to be stirred up, and for lives to be marked by His presence.
4. A Church Sent on Mission (Acts. 13:2-3; Matt. 28:18-20)
In Acts 13, the church prayed and fasted as the Holy Spirit set apart and sent people on mission. We are asking God to make us a praying, holy, missionary people who follow Jesus together. Our prayer is that we would boldly share the gospel and see lives transformed, the lost found, the blind seeing, and the spiritually dead brought to life through Christ.
5. Salvation in Our Community (Matt. 5:14-16; Luke 19:10)
Jesus calls us to be the light of the world, and we are praying that His light would push back the darkness in our neighborhoods. We’re asking God to open hearts, save our neighbors, and move powerfully throughout our communities. Our prayer is that the love of Christ would spread through His people and that many across our island would turn to Jesus.
6. America & The Nations (1 Tim. 2:1-4; Ps. 2:8)
Scripture calls us to pray for leaders and for the nations of the world. We are praying for our country and for God’s mercy and wisdom in a time of global tension and conflict. We’re also praying for believers around the world, especially in places like Iran, Israel, and other affected regions, that God would protect them, strengthen their faith, and use them boldly to proclaim the hope of Christ.
