Dead Religion
Week 8 | Judgement and Redemption
August 6, 2023 • Pastor Landon Dees • Luke 1:17, Galatians 3:13–14, Malachi 4, Malachi 2:7, John 15:2
Judgment is coming for those that do not fear the Lord. But, there is hope for those that follow God because of the redemption we have in Christ. We now look forward to Christ coming in glory, when his people will be saved, judgement will come and all will be restored. While we wait hopefully on that day, we’re reminded to remain faithful to the Lord in the waiting. Waiting to show ourselves to be God fearers, having reverence and love for Him, and taking His name to the lost in hopes that they avoid the coming judgement. Malachi is a reminder that those that don’t have faith, those that do not fear God, those that have dead religion will perish like chaff and stubble. For us that fear God, it’s a call to stay the course, to keep the faith, to be refined by fire into the image of Christ.
Week 5 | An Unjust People See the Justice of God
July 16, 2023 • Pastor Landon Dees • Isaiah 40:3, Matthew 11:10, Luke 19:45–46, Titus 2:13–14, Malachi 2:17—3:5
We want to see justice applied to others but not to ourselves and a lack of reverence causes us to miss what the Lord is teaching us as he purifies our souls to be more conformed to His image. He disciplines those He loves.
Week 3 | Apathetic Worship Results in Inconsistent Living
July 2, 2023 • Pastor Landon Dees • Malachi 2:1–9
For you, as a Christian, as a church member, it is so important that you take the word of God seriously. That you allow the word of God to shape you and change you. That you live by the instructions he has laid before you. For your own good and for your own growth this is important. But, it’s also important so you know if someone is leading you astray. When we fail to follow the instructions God has given us we can’t fulfill the purpose he has designed us for.
