The Arrival

Unto Us A Child Is Born

Wonderful Counselor

November 27, 2022 • Pastor Mike Towner • Isaiah 9:6–7, Proverbs 14:12, Isaiah 55:9, James 1:5–8, Proverbs 1:7

Isaiah 9:6: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.." We are a people who need a wise leader. Put your trust in the Lord, for He is the only true source of wisdom we so desperately seek. Humbly ask for his guidance and wisdom, and ask confidently knowing that the Lord works all things together for good.

Mighty God

December 4, 2022 • Pastor Mike Towner • Job 42:2, 1 Samuel 17:51, Mark 4:39, Isaiah 41:10, Mark 7:21–23

"Gibbor", an ancient Hebrew word that in English means "mighty". A rather fitting word for our Lord and Savior, who was, who is, and who is to come. Jesus was mighty and reigned supreme from the very moment He set foot on this earth in a manger in Bethlehem, and remains Lord of all for eternity. God sent "El Gibbor" (The Mighty God, Jesus) to earth to pay a debt he didn't owe, for sins he didn't commit, knowing that Jesus would prevail victorious over all!

Everlasting Father

December 11, 2022 • Pastor Tim Cinnamon • Isaiah 9:1–6, Psalm 103:13–14, John 3:16–17, Colossians 1:13, 1 Peter 3:18

Isaiah 9:6 - "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." It's a common misconception that "Everlasting Father" is referring to "God The Father". Everlasting Father in this context is referring to Jesus being a king who rules with love, compassion, and grace (like that of an earthly father, and less like a king of that day). Not only was it prophesied that Jesus would be that loving father-like king, he would be everlasting, with us forever and for always!

Prince Of Peace

December 18, 2022 • Pastor Mike Towner • Luke 2:11–14, Isaiah 9:6–7, Colossians 1:21, John 16:33, Philippians 4:6–7

Christmas; a season of peace? For most of us, the first word when we think of the Christmas season isn't likely to be "peace", but that's exactly what Christmas is really about. Christmas is a season to remind us of the true gift of God that came to earth, Jesus Christ. Jesus' love for us, is a peace that surpasses all understanding. It's a peace that is unlike any peace any of us have ever known. This peace comes from the fact that Jesus is ALL we need and He will always be enough for any challenge that may lay ahead.

Christmas Eve

December 24, 2022 • Pastor Mike Towner • John 12:46, Hebrews 2:14, Revelation 1:18, 1 John 5:11–12, Luke 2:1–7

Jesus was sent on a rescue mission to save us. The only way to rescue us was to conquer death. So Jesus came, put on flesh and blood to die for us in our place. But Jesus didn't stay dead, he rose from his tomb defeating death, hell and the grave so that we may live in eternity with Him.

Christmas Day

December 25, 2022 • Pastor Mike Towner • Luke 2:11, Genesis 1:27, 1 Timothy 1:15, John 3:16, 2 Corinthians 5:14–15

Jesus' purpose for coming to this earth was to seek and save the lost, and He gave his followers the same purpose. God's gift to this earth is a gift worth sharing with others, and that's exactly what we as followers are called to do!
