Setting Sail

Getting shipshape for the season ahead

Anchored

Without an anchor, boats drift off course. Our lives without an anchor are prone to drift off course. As we sail into the summer season, commit to anchoring your life in Christ. A really effective way to do this is to attend church regularly. From the very beginning, God's plan for His church was community; a group of believers gathering together to worship His Holy Name!

The Crew

"Show me your friends and I'll show you your future"; a powerful statement that is so true of our lives. We were created by God for community, to be together with other believers to hold us accountable, but also to share life experiences with. Choosing your "crew" is a must; we're not meant to go through life alone, but choose to surround yourself with others who are living their lives for Christ!

The Compass

Philippians 2:3-4 "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." Let the focus of our lives be fixed on loving one another as Christ first loved us. May the course of our lives, in everything we do, seek to point everyone we encounter to Christ.

The Life Preserver

Inattentional blindness causes us to become complacent in our faith. Much like a life preserver, we sometimes take for granted it’s existence and only seek its life saving abilities when we’re at our most desperate. Allowing the Gospel to not only change our lives, but change our hearts causes us continually turn to the Father and align our lives to Him. God’s plan for us is more than salvation, it’s surrendered living; constantly seeking Him!
