People have so many reasons for not getting married but continuing a relationship. We can describe those reasons by reducing them to their lowest common denominator: "My love for you hasn't reached marriage level." Saying that out loud would likely end the relationship and so mask it with more socially acceptable explanations. Ultimately fear is the driver in our lack of commitment. Is this really the best way to live in relationship with a baby-mama or baby-daddy or a never ending "situationship"? Unpack with me the commitment that defines a relationship that is aligned with how God designed marriage to be.

What are we doing a series on marriage for when so many people in our communities are single and disinterested in getting married? Are we stuck in the past, trying to resurrect a bygone era? A pastor said it this way: "Single people cannot live their lives well as singles without a balanced, informed view of marriage. If they do not have that, they will either over-desire or under-desire marriage, and either of those ways of thinking will distort their lives."
