Speaker Bio:

We're honored to be joined by our guest speaker, Rv. Gayle B. Parker. Gayle Parker loves being a disciple of Jesus and coming alongside others who want to be disciples.

It seems like a lifetime ago that she earned an MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary, which then led her to serve as an ordained pastor in a variety of ministries. Her longest tenure was as senior pastor of Historic First Presbyterian Church in inner-city Phoenix, where she led the congregation in redevelopment, reaching out to a population of Phoenix residents that was a generation younger than the church had in its membership, as well as developing an active ministry to the homeless and an after-school ministry for at-risk children.

Along with her husband Tom and a wonderful team, she planted a church in Tempe, AZ (The Spring), and that church planted a church in Phoenix (Midtown Presbyterian), where she and Tom have attended since her retirement in 2021. Those ministries have been focused on Millenial and Gen Z folks who are in various stages of faith and various stages of relationship to the Church. She likes being one of the old folks in the community! She considers herself blessed in more ways than she can count – but especially blessed to continue to use her gifts, alongside others, to make devoted disciples of Christ.

In addition to her pastoral roles, for many years, Gayle enjoyed being an adjunct professor at Fuller Seminary Arizona, where she taught in the area of preaching, and she also spent many rewarding years serving on the Board of Trustees at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA.

Gayle is crazy (in a good way) about her husband, Tom, and their three sons and daughters-in-law, and six wonderful grandchildren. She loves to cook (and to eat), to hang out with people, to read, to solve New York Times crosswords, and is learning to speak Spanish.
