In summary, John 15:1-17 invites believers to cultivate a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus, highlighting the necessity of remaining connected to Him for spiritual vitality. It also emphasizes the call to love one another genuinely, demonstrating that true discipleship involves both intimacy with Christ and active engagement in loving relationships within the community. If you only heard that Jesus is all you need, and you don’t need friends, you have gotten only half go the message… I am sorry! Jesus models for us how to be friends. It involved honesty, love and forgiveness.

Faith and Disappointment

In life we face losses, disappointments, and grief. How do we have faith when God doesn’t answer our prayers how we had hoped? What does it look like to trust God in the midst of disappointment? In John chapter 11, Jesus receives word that his friend Lazarus is very sick. When he arrives, he finds that Lazarus has already died. The story ends with one of Jesus’ most incredible miracles recorded in Scripture. But before the dramatic conclusion, this story has much to teach us about faith in God in the midst of disappointment by naming our disappointments, practicing lament, understanding Jesus’ empathy, and clinging to God’s truth.

Leave A Light On

Are you leaving a light on to help point people to Jesus? Where is your light pointing people towards Jesus statement speaks directly to our daily lives. Just like a light reveals what’s around us, Jesus illuminates the path we should walk on. In a world full of uncertainties and moral confusion, Jesus provides clarity and direction. For a younger generation navigating through complex choices and a rapidly changing world, Jesus’ light offers unwavering guidance as well shines a light of redemption in some dark and confusing areas in life and in situations that need hope for the future.“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:12 Jesus offers us light and truth that brings freedom and direction. As we navigate our lives, let’s hold firmly to His teachings, walk in His light, and embrace the freedom He offers. Jesus’ invitation to follow Him is not just a call to belief but a call to live out His truth in every aspect of our lives. To bring it home a little closer, For believers, this means seeking His light is reflected in our daily lives, relying on His guidance to navigate moral and spiritual challenges. In moments of doubt, confusion, or darkness, He is our guiding light. so he can offer guidance and direction.

There’s Something in the Water

Jesus’ invitation to “come to me and drink” is profound. He is not speaking about physical thirst but about a deeper, spiritual thirst that we all experience. Just as water is essential for physical life, so is the living water He offers essential for spiritual life. This living water represents the Holy Spirit, who would later be given to believers after Jesus’ resurrection and glorification. This water sustains us, refreshes us, and empowers us to live out our faith with vitality. This passage clearly indicates there is something in the water.Many of us experience spiritual dryness or a sense of longing. Jesus invites us to come to Him with our needs and drink deeply from His grace and truth. If you are feeling empty or unfulfilled, turn to Jesus and seek His living water through: prayer, Bible reading, worship and of course community.

The Lame man, is still Lame

Jesus heals a disabled man at the Pool of Bethesda and informs the man, that he is not completely healed, there is more work to be done. Jesus causes a Sabbath controversy with the Religious leaders because he told a healed mean to carry his mat. There are so many broken pieces revealed in this story about the Religious leaders, the “healed” man and even in us. By Gods grace He is making all things new and we are reminded of the beautiful healing and wholeness God is bringing us to.

Come, See, Remain

John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus and for us to recognize that He Is the Christ, the Messiah, the King of Israel, the Son of God and Son of Man, the Chosen one of God and so much more. Johns Gospel helps us to see who Christ is and to learn what it means to be His Disciple. To be a disciple of Jesus, we cannot merely know about Him, but we must come, see and remain with Him in regularly intimate relationship. This sermon explores how we can grow in Discipleship and how we can share our faith with others.
