PRAYERS FOR THIS ELECTION AND OUR NATION

From the President of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, Rev. Matthew Harrison…

Almighty God, Your wisdom created and upholds all things in heaven and on earth. You have placed me as a citizen in this nation, in which I am also given a vote and voice concerning its government. Give me discernment that I may exercise this civic duty as best I can for the benefit of our people now and in the future and in accordance with Your Word. Give wisdom not only to me and all other voters, but especially to the leaders who will be elected, that all foolish or wicked plans may come to no success, and that noble, fair and beneficial counsels be heeded and put into effect for the good of the country they serve. Spare us from harm, grant peace and security and let Your Gospel be preached unhindered in this nation, since You desire all to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

United We Stand in the Gospel of King Jesus

FATHER,

We come before You with humble hearts, asking for Your wisdom and peace to cover our nation during this turbulent, exhausting election season.

MESSIAH JESUS,

You are the King of kings, and we acknowledge that You alone hold the world in Your hands. We lift up every candidate, every voter, and every voice in this country, asking that Your love and justice would guide each decision and each heart.

HOLY SPIRIT,

Protect us from division, from hatred, from fear that would drive us apart. Bless us to see every person as made in Your image, worthy of love, respect, and compassion.

Grant us the humility to listen to one another and the courage to pursue what is good and just in Your eyes.

BLESSED TRINITY,

We ask that You would raise up leaders who have hearts for You, strong moral character, who seek truth, wisdom, and justice for all people. We pray for leaders who will stand for the vulnerable, who will love mercy, walk humbly, and act justly. We know that our hope is not in earthly leaders or systems but in You, Jesus. No matter the outcome of this election, may Your church shine brightly and be lit up with love, standing as a beacon of hope in this world. We trust in You, Lord, and surrender all of our anxieties to You. In the name of Jesus, our King, we pray. Amen.
