1. Adoption was first for the benefit of the father. The needs of the adoptee were secondary.

2. The adoptee could not be disowned by the father for any reason. Adoption was final.

3. The adoptee is taken out of his previous state and is placed in a new relationship with his new father. Adoptee starts a new life.
