Jesus was before his human birth...Jesus was before creation’s birth...therefore Jesus is not merely mankind...He is divinity...Jesus is God.

700 years prior to the birth of Christ, where the prophet Isaiah prophesies the human birth of the divine Jesus, take a look at what the prophet says:

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give
birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14

What does Immanuel mean? Take a look at the definition:

Immanuel - God is with us.

In all of these super important theological details, I don’t want to miss the POINT of the message today; HOW DID HE DO IT? That is, HOW DID HE ACCOMPLISH THE RESCUE MISSION we learned about last week, which was why He came...to seek and save the lost, but HOW DID HE DO IT?!?

God the Father, gave Jesus, His own son. He gave Him to the WORLD...because He so loved the World. Jesus, God’s very own son...the second personhood of the trinity, gave up that comfort of the heavens, the comforts of the pre-cosmos, in order to come
to our lowly human form to ... BE WITH US! To RESCUE US!! IMMANUEL!! GOD. WITH. US!!!!

The Second Birth

Born to give the second birth ... In his short sermon, Mike shared with us that God gave us the most incredible gift of all, His only Son Jesus. Apart from being God's son, He is also our savior and king. This springs us into our next series called Christ the King, where we will be systematically going through the Book of Matthew. In this series, we will follow Matthew as he shares with us the king that was revealed, rejected and returning.

Why Jesus Came

The Bible makes it crystal clear that the purpose of Jesus coming into this world was to reconcile us back to God. Jesus coming to earth was strictly A RESCUE OPERATION because according to Romans 3:23 “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.”

The Newborn King

After being crowned King in heaven, Jesus will return to earth. He will rule for 1,000 years, then his reign will continue forever in the new heavens and new earth. Now if you want details about what Jesus comes back to do and what happens during his 1,000 year reign, you can check out week five of our teaching series Scarlet Thread online or on our New Day App - where I teach in depth on this very topic. But for our purposes today, all I want to say is: After being crowned King and returning to earth, Jesus will rule for 1,000 years, then his reign will continue forever in the new heavens and new earth - which is fitting because Jesus was born to be King.
